The ES Lab EX-1a represents ES Lab’s latest innovative design after the flagship ES series. It is engineered to deliver performance that approaches that of ES Lab’s flagship model, while also having its own strengths and characters. The EX-1a caters to both electrostatics headphones enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Driver
The EX-1a features a 68mm diameter electrostatic driver, made of high-grade, ultra-thin Mylar film. The diaphragm is driven by a pair of OFC copper plate electrodes which are only 0.5mm thick. This provides powerful propulsion for the diaphragm, delivering exceptional bass reproduction and detail retrieval. Each driver is assembled in a clean room environment with hours of inspection work and the strictest contamination control.
Film Technology
For the first time in the industry, ES Lab adopts an embossing printing process for the ultra-thin film dust screens. By applying ultra-light compression to the film, a matrix of embossed patterns is printed into the dust screen, which is less then a micrometer thick. This, minimizes distortion while making the dust screen acoustically transparent.
Chassis
The EX-1a employs an all-metal chassis comprised of CNC-machined aluminium alloy, stainless steel frames enclosed in genuine buffalo leather. Maximum comfort is achieved by reducing weight and creating a slim contour. The retro, classic, yet elegant design of the EX-1a closely resembles vintage audio gear.
Earpads / Cable
Each earpad is crafted through a complex assembly process using selected genuine lambskin leather.
The Pro-Bias connection of the driver is linked via a 6 core PC-Triple-C copper cable with insulation cladding and gold-platted connectors. Additional cable options are available upon request.
Warranty
EX-1a owners can enjoy a 1-year warranty.
EX-1a is designed for easy disassembly to facilitate future maintenance, possible modification or upgrade.
